چکیده

The genetic properties of a new (hspS) host specificity of Salmonella typhimurium were investigated using bacteriophage L. Phage L is a better substrate for s-specific restriction than phage P22. Mutants deficient in s-restriction only were found at the same frequency as mutants deficient in both restriction and modification. Crosses between S. typhimurium Hfr and S. typhimurium For between Escherichia coli and S. typhimurium showed that the s system has the same chromosomal location as the K system of E. coli. The s system was introduced into E. coli and found to be effective on phage A.

The effect of short-time microwave exposures on Salmonella typhimurium inoculated onto chicken drumettes

Salmonella     species show different disease syndromes and host specificity, according to their antigenic profile. Salmonella enterica serovar typhimurium is one of the most frequently isolated serovar from foodborne outbreaks. Poultry meat has been identified as one of the principal foodborne sources of Salmonella. In this study, the effect of microwave treatment of chicken meat samples...

Genomic subtractive hybridization and selective capture of transcribed sequences identify a novel Salmonella typhimurium fimbrial operon and putative transcriptional regulator that are absent from the Salmonella typhi genome.

Salmonella typhi, the etiologic agent of typhoid fever, is adapted to the human host and unable to infect nonprimate species. The genetic basis for host specificity in S. typhi is unknown. The avirulence of S. typhi in animal hosts may result from a lack of genes present in the broad-host-range pathogen Salmonella typhimurium. Genomic subtractive hybridization was successfully employed to isola...

Bacterial Regulon Evolution: Distinct Responses and Roles for the Identical OmpR Proteins of Salmonella Typhimurium and Escherichia coli in the Acid Stress Response

The evolution of new gene networks is a primary source of genetic innovation that allows bacteria to explore and exploit new niches, including pathogenic interactions with host organisms. For example, the archetypal DNA binding protein, OmpR, is identical between Salmonella Typhimurium serovar Typhimurium and Escherichia coli, but regulatory specialization has resulted in different environmenta...

Detection of Salmonella enterica Serovar Typhimurium from Avians Using Multiplex-PCR

Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium and S.enterica serovar Enteritidis are the most frequently isolated serovars from food-borne diseases throughout the world. According to their antigenic profiles, salmonella shows different disease syndromes and host specificities. It is necessary and important to discriminate salmonella serovars from each other in order to ensure that each pathogen and i...

Modified Intracellular-Associated Phenotypes in a Recombinant Salmonella Typhi Expressing S. Typhimurium SPI-3 Sequences

A bioinformatics comparison of Salmonella Pathogenicity Island 3 sequences from S. Typhi and S. Typhimurium serovars showed that ten genes are highly conserved. However three of them are pseudogenes in S. Typhi. Our aim was to understand what functions are lost in S. Typhi due to pseudogenes by constructing a S. Typhi genetic hybrid carrying the SPI-3 region of S. Typhimurium instead of its own...
